Taha wairua / spirtual wellbeing
An ACL injury can challenge your plans, your faith, and your connection to what is important. If your knee injury has had a big impact on your life and is contributing to stress or pressure, you may ask big questions like ‘why did this happen to me’? This is where taking time to connect to things that strengthen your wairua can be important. This may be visiting places that are important to you, getting into nature, or connecting with your marae, your faith, or your church. The time taken to do this is an investment in your recovery.
You may wish to access an ACC-funded Rongoā Māori service as part of your rehab. Rongoā Māori may include approaches such as whitiwhiti kōrero (support and advice), mirimiri and romiromi (bodywork).
