Introduction

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries have a major impact on your life and a long recovery journey. There are many important decisions that need to be made along the way.

This website and the accompanying booklet are designed to provide information that helps you to recovery from an ACL injury. There are five sections:

LEARN: The more you know about the ACL, ACL injury, ACL options and choices, and potential paths and outcomes, the better placed you will be to make decisions that align with your values and preferences.

RECOVER: Your recovery journey will be improved if you think about all aspects of your wellbeing, help your healing, and set goals.

REHAB: You will move through four phases of rehab, from acute care to reactivation to restoring function to sport-specific training.

CROSS BRACING: If you are using the Cross Bracing Protocol, it is important to understand the timeline, tips and tricks for managing your time in the brace, the exercises you need to do, and the medication that is recommended.

RETURN: Returning to sport is an aim for many people. It is important to understand the criteria that show you are ready, the risk of reinjury and how to reduce this, and how to optimise your long-term knee health.

In addition, there are resources (including print information) and information about who we are.
