The ENCORE study

Enhancing Non-Operative Care of ACL Rupture: Effectiveness and Equity (ENCORE) is a study run by the University of Otago which aims to find out whether using the Cross Bracing Protocol (CBP) in the first 8 weeks of ACL rehabilitation improves recovery from ACL rupture.

ENCORE is the first trial in the world to compare the Cross Bracing Protocol to rehab alone for people who are following a rehab-first approach.

  • ENCORE asks whether adding CBP to a rehab-first approach improves recovery outcomes
  • It will also explore whether CBP improves healing and whether ACL healing is associated with improved outcomes
