Muscle cramps

  • Make sure you are well hydrated to minimise muscle cramping.
  • If you get hamstring cramp, please DO NOT straighten the knee as this will affect your ACL healing. You can stretch your hamstring in sitting with your knee flexed by leaning over forwards – make sure you keep your knee at a right angle.
  • If you get calf cramp, you can stretch your calf by bending your ankle so your toes come up towards you or put some weight onto your foot with the brace securely on.
  • You can also massage the muscles (while keeping the knee at the set angle).
  • Talk to your physio if you are cramping regularly.
